Position:       Supplier Development Specialist (cross-functional)

Reports to:    Purchasing, Sales & Marketing Managers

 

JOB DESCRIPTION


Objective 
The Supplier Development Specialist will be responsible for identifying and developing business opportunities (new suppliers and new products for import & distribution). This will entail developing business plans, interacting, and negotiating with affected parties to the point where the business plan can be implemented. Further to this, the incumbent will play an active role in supporting the business venture to ensure its ongoing success. The incumbent’s responsibilities also include collaboration and assisting the sales, marketing & purchasing departments.

Essential Functions

  1. Effect continuous growth in the number of potential vendors within an operational radius in order to support local development and growth

  2. Establish and maintain a database of goods and services to be supplied which can be accessed readily by the buyers

  3. Study competition's products and businesses acquired and propose new acquisitions accordingly

  4. Study and present the impact of business development within the community/area serving the operations

  5. Establishment of approved projects relating to local economic development

  6. Sit on the relevant committees and assist with the approval of projects

  7. Scheduling supplier assessments and ensuring that suppliers have been fairly assessed

  8. Conduct feasibility studies to determine the commercial viability of the business opportunities

  9. Growth in the number of commercially viable business opportunities

  10. Attainment of goals in terms of quality, costs, and adherence to schedules

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: Full-time position. 

Standard days and hours of work are Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. 

 

Physical Requirements: This position requires being in the office.

 

Education and Experience
Candidates should have:

  • 5-8 years of combined experience in either ‘sales or marketing’ and purchasing.

  • Bachelors in either marketing, sales or purchasing (supply chain, logistics, or purchasing).

  • PMP/ CAPM/ CSM/ PRINCE2/ CPMP/ APM

  • Masters is a plus

  • A good command of English and Arabic

 

Work Authorization/Security Clearance (if applicable)
Local security clearance
